Ten Commandments 4 – 4th Commandment

Bible passage: Exodus 20:8-11
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who [a]stays with you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.”

Dear brothers and sisters, Today looks at the 4th Commandment of the Ten Commandments.

The main bible passage, Exodus 20:8 writes, “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.’ The two most basic principles we must keep after accepting Jesus Christ and starting our religious lives are: keep the Sabbath day and offer whole tithes.

If whole tithes and other offerings are ‘acts of faith that acknowledge God’s material sovereignty,’ then keeping the sabbath day is ‘an act of faith that acknowledges God’s spiritual sovereignty.’ As a child of God who acknowledges God’s material and spiritual sovereignty, abiding by these two principles would mean protection throughout the week with no trials or tribulations. Completely keeping the Sabbath and offering whole tithes is the evidence of being ‘a child of God,’ so God can protect you. It’s imperative that you clearly understand the importance of the commandment of keeping the sabbath day.

Of course, many here now know the importance of keeping the Sabbath and keep it holy. I hope that through today’s message you will once again engrave the meaning of the Sabbath on your hearts and more complete rest in the Lord even if you think you’ve kept it well.
