Bible passage: Matthew 3:11-12
“11. "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 12. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire. "
Dear believers, today is Pentecost Sunday.
It is a Sunday that commemorates the incident when the Holy Spirit, God, first came to believers. I hope this will be a great blessing as I speak today under the title ‘Faith with the Help of the Holy Spirit.’ The reason why the Holy Spirit came to humans is as follows. At the Last Supper with His disciples, Jesus said to them that He would soon go to the Father’s house and prepare a place for them.
Then the disciples began to worry because they did not understand where Jesus would be going. Knowing the hearts of His disciples, Jesus comforts them by saying that He will not leave them like orphans. Then He promised to send the Holy Spirit, another Helper as written in John 14:16 which says, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever.” In obedience to Jesus' words, about 120 believers gathered in Mark's upper room in Jerusalem and prayed when the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, came upon them. After the Holy Spirit came, believers were able to lead a passionate life of faith, and an explosive revival occurred in the early church. If we live a life of faith with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can live a life of faith as fully and fervently as the believers of the early church. If you look at the Bible, you will find many pioneers of faith who did truly great things.
There are many times when I feel envious and wonder, ‘How did they do such amazing things?’ But in fact, it is not difficult to do so with the help of the Holy Spirit. Workers who clearly receive the voice and guidance of the Holy Spirit do everything with the help of the Holy Spirit, so even things that seem difficult to a natural person can be done without difficulty.
